"Evening for Elon" came to the Big Apple on April 30, at Cipriani 42nd Street, New York City. Guests came to hear updates on Elon’s campus and celebrate their shared connection to the Elon community.

With projects rooted in storytelling, sustainability and community, two communication design majors earned honors in the 2025 Graphis New Talent Annual, showcasing their creativity on a global stage.

Among the evening’s award recipients were Brynja Burton ’25, named Major of the Year, and Will Ferris ’25, who earned the James P. Drummond Service Award.

The NBC 12 News anchor will receive a Doing the Most Good Award for her contributions in the Richmond, Virginia, community.

The former Elon University volleyball player and journalism major has carved out a rising career as an associate producer for ESPN’s “30 for 30” documentary series, blending her athletic insight with a passion for long-form storytelling.

The alumni’s essay on Russell Westbrook was the top story link on the ESPN app during the Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves game on Jan. 25.

The strategic communications major was one of 50 students nationwide selected for the advertising industry’s premier multicultural recruiting initiative.

Emma Kopkowski ’20 worked as a producer on “Visionaries,” a documentary that highlights the work of creative minds from around the world.

The ACC commissioner headlined the 2025 Sport Management Symposium, where he addressed key issues in college athletics, including NIL policies, the House v. NCAA settlement, and transfer portal challenges, while advocating for standardized rules and student-athlete development.

Presented by the School of Communications Inclusive Excellence Committee, the interactive event brought together students, faculty, staff and alumni to discuss a broad range of issues related to inclusivity in communications, journalism and the media.
