Center for the Study of Religion, Culture, and Society celebrates successful completion of inaugural scholarly meeting

During winter 2017, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty partnered to educate students on sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking and women offenders and to collaborate with community organizations. Outreach activities were supported by a Health Promotion Mini-Grant and the CAS Small Enhancement Grant.

Eleven North American scholars will participate in the center's first symposium, "On the Edge of Apocalypse," Feb. 9-11.

Paxus Calta, former lead organizer for Friends of the Earth International, presents an interactive workshop on "Imaginative Activism: Creativity and Social Movements in an Era of Polarization." The event is at 5:30pm in Lindner Hall, Room 102

Michael Messner, professor of sociology and gender studies at University of Southern California, will present "More Men: From Violence to Anti-Violence" in Whitley Auditorium at 7 p.m.

The article on Romper featured research by Elon's Aunchalee Palmquist and Kirstie Doehler about the online sharing of breast milk. 

Rena Zito, assistant professor of sociology, and co-author Stacy De Coster of N.C. State University have published a chapter on life-course offending in Preventing Crime and Violence.
