Ryan Harper ’25, Tess Hawthorne ’25 and Cierra Hopson ’25 lead the way as the first Elon University students to earn Advanced Data Competency Badges from Data Nexus, showcasing their exceptional skills in data analysis, interpretation and application in the workforce.

Hosted in conjunction with the Department of Sport Management, the Nov. 8 event brought together students, faculty and industry professionals to discuss critical issues and insights through engaging networking sessions, classroom visits, and an afternoon panel in Turner Theatre.

The associate professor of sport management served as a guest editor for the scholarly, peer-reviewed publication of the NIRSA Foundation.

School of Communications faculty and staff members, as well as upperclassmen, gathered Oct. 21 to educate first-year students about the school’s academic programs, resources and opportunities.

Drummond joined Elon in 1987 and was the founding chair of the Department of Leisure and Sport Management.

School of Communications students participated in a pre-game panel discussion and TV production truck tour leading up to the NHL team’s Oct. 15 home game with the New Jersey Devils.

The Department of Sport Management hosted its annual fall internship forum on Sept. 30 that featured a student-led panel discussion and informational tables highlighting summer internships.

Under the guidance of Elon alumna Serena Archer ’19, the sport management major completed a 10-week internship program in her hometown at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Through a combination of networking, persistence and good timing, the sport management major was able to bring his energy and passion for “Banana Ball” to Buffalo, Cleveland, Durham, Greensboro and his hometown of Philadelphia.

During its Sept. 23 interest meeting, student leaders and advisers discussed Unity’s mission to celebrate diversity and advance inclusion across the communications and sport management industries.
