During its annual awards celebration, hosted April 18 in Turner Theatre, the School of Communications acknowledged exemplary student achievement, presented Outstanding Senior Awards, and celebrated this year’s inductees in the Kappa Tau Alpha honors society.

Lily Emlong is the next student to be featured in the “Career Moves” series, which highlights the achievements of Elon students and alumni who credit staff in Elon’s Student Professional Development Center with helping them achieve their professional goals.

Titled “Game On: How Sports Media Grew Up, Sold Out, and Got Personal with Billions of Fans,” Bockino’s book – published on April 1 – is the first comprehensive, general audience history of the sports media industry.

The column by Bockino, an associate professor of sport management, offers insights into how college students are approaching expanded opportunities to gamble on sports.

Bockino, an associate professor of sport management, is the author of the forthcoming book, "Game On: How Sports Media Grew Up, Sold Out, and Got Personal with Billions of Fans."

Hosted by the school’s Inclusive Excellence Committee, the event will amplify DEI initiatives and contributions, bringing community members together to engage in DEI-related discussions.

Led by Assistant Professors of Sport Management Alex Traugutt and Khirey Walker, five Elon University students traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee, to participate in the three-day conference.

The Feb. 4 broadcast, featuring Elon University’s women’s basketball team hosting Campbell University, was staffed entirely by women.

Thirty-four students in Elon University’s Communications Fellows program participated in a 10-day trip in January to the Sunshine State, touring communications companies, meeting with industry professionals, and exploring what their future careers might look like.
