Fifty-six Elon Law students participated in the Innocence Project this semester, reviewing credible claims of innocence by individuals convicted of crimes in North Carolina. 

Elon Law’s Moot Court Board is pleased to announce the 22 students who have been selected for membership on the Board.

The online Elon Business Law Journal today published an article titled "The Effect of New Tax Regulations on Hydraulic Fracturing in North Carolina" by Austin Raymond, a member of the Class of 2016 at Elon Law. 

Elon Law's Pro Bono Week, held Oct. 26-29, spotlighted students and others who volunteer their time to address legal needs of those who would not otherwise be able to access legal assistance. 

Lizzy Coltrane, Jocelyne Riehl and Megan Boorsma were quarterfinalists at the Fifteenth Annual Leroy R. Hassell, Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition at Regent University School of Law on October 16-17.  The team also won awards for Best Petitioner’s Brief and Best Overall Brief in the competition.  

Several students from Elon Law’s Moot Court Board had the opportunity to observe oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Wednesday, Oct. 7.  

Alexandria Hall and Jennifer LaBeau won the final round of Elon Law’s Eighth Annual Intramural Moot Court Competition. Gonzalo Ventura and Meghan Smith also competed in the final round. Ventura was named “Best Oralist from the Final Round” and “Best Oralist from the Preliminary Rounds.” The team of Leah Britt and James Capps took “Best Brief” honors. 

Elon Law student placements in the offices of a city attorney, public defender, judge, law firm and social justice nonprofit are featured in the eighth and final weekly spotlight on Elon Law student summer employment experiences.

Enthusiasm for the achievements of Elon Law students and for Elon Law’s leadership role in the innovation of legal education infused the law school’s eighth annual Friends & Family Day on Sept. 19.

Part seven of Elon Law’s student summer employment series spotlights the insights and experiences of those working in military law, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, criminal law, family law, immigration law and intellectual property law.
