Women’s Law Association holds 3rd annual 5K run for women’s health

On Saturday, March 12, Elon Law's Women's Law Association (WLA) held its third annual Barbara Sullivan Race for Women's Health. Each year, WLA holds this race to raise awareness for issues affecting women's health and to raise money for organizations that fund research for those issues.

Outlaw hosts Rebecca Perry for seminar on same sex partnership agreements

On March 8, the Elon Law student organization, Outlaw, held a seminar titled "The Importance of Same Sex Partnership Agreements in Light of Boseman." Family law attorney Rebecca Perry discussed Boseman v. Jarrell, a recent North Carolina case that decided whether an adoption decree granting the non-parent in a same sex relationship parental rights was valid after the relationship dissolved.
Three Elon alumni among N.C. Triad’s ’40 Leaders Under Forty’

The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area selected three Elon graduates - Kristen Wither Yntema '95, Wade G. Jurney Jr. G'09 and Jeb Brooks L'10 - among its 2011 "40 Leaders Under Forty." They were honored at a Feb. 17 event at the Embassy Suites in Greensboro, N.C., and were profiled in the Feb. 18 edition of the periodical.
Elon Law Review elects editors for 2011-2012

On February 21, members of the Elon Law Review, the student-edited scholarly journal of the Elon University School of Law, held elections for its 2011-2012 editorial board. Eleven members from the Class of 2012 were elected to the board, including James Grant, who will serve as editor-in-chief.

Elon Law students awarded corporate counsel scholarships

Pamela Lawrence, '12, and Michael Sprague, '11, are among a select group of North Carolina law students chosen by the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel to receive the chapter's first-annual scholarship awards. Criteria for the scholarships include academic performance and an interest in the in-house practice of law.
Elon’s Innocence Project presents research and hosts Dwayne Dail, exonerated after 18 years

On November 17, Elon Law students Daniel Harris, Leah Shellberg, Ashley Smith, Ben Synder, and Melissa Westmoreland presented research into potential wrongful convictions of individuals in North Carolina, before Christine Mumma, Executive Director of the N.C. Center on Actual Innocence. Elon's chapter of the Innocence Project also met Dwayne Allen Dail, exonerated after 18 years in prison for a rape he did not commit.
