Sukkot (Jewish)

This festival that runs Oct. 5-11 this year begins on the fifth day after Yom Kippur and is one of the most joyous holidays. Sukkot helps commemorate the period in which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert. People live and eat in temporary dwellings during the festival.

Eid Al-Adha Celebration: Wednesday, Sept. 27 in the Numen Lumen Pavilion

Join us for at the McBride Gathering Space in the Numen Lumen Pavilion on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. to celebrate Eid.  Students, staff, and community members present stories and a sampling of traditional foods at Elon’s celebration of the Muslim festival known as the Feast of Sacrifice. This celebration recognizes the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son to God and commemorates the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. All are welcome to join in this occasion!
