J.C. Watts, former Republican congressman from Oklahoma and a commentator and strategist, will hold a question-and-answer session at 11 a.m. today in Whitley Auditorium. Watts is visiting campus as the seventh Isabella Cannon Distinguished Visiting Professor of Leadership. He delivered a public lecture last night in McCrary Theatre.

Two Elon University students had their original screenplays selected to be produced and filmed as part of the nationwide Sprite Refreshing Films™ contest, a program "that gives future moviemakers a chance to create real films with industry pros and celebrities." RecycleMania returns to Elon this month for the university’s fifth year taking part in a recycling competition involving hundreds of colleges and universities across the nation, including 19 institutions of higher learning in the state of North Carolina. New this year is an Elon campus contest where students spotted recycling at certain times of the week can win extra Phoenix cash for their efforts.
