Trustee Burney Jennings to give Legends of Business address in Love School of Business Sept. 15

Maurice Jennings ‘57, founder of Biscuitville restaurant and Burney Jennings ‘87, Biscuitville president, will be featured as the Love School of Business Legends of Business speakers on Wednesday, September 15, 4:30 pm. in the LaRose Digital Theatre. The event is open to all Elon students, faculty, and staff. A reception will follow.
ARAMARK gift funds first year of Campus Kitchen

The company that oversees all food and catering operations at Elon University presented a $50,000 gift to school leaders Tuesday morning at College Coffee to fund a new community service program set to begin this year on campus.
Sierra Club gives Elon green accolades

The Sierra Club named Elon University one of the nation’s top “Coolest Schools” in the environmental group’s fourth annual rankings of America’s greenest campuses. It is the second consecutive year that Elon made the list, which rates schools in categories that include academics, waste management and energy efficiency.
Symposium looks at poetic texts as basis for music composition – Sept. 13-15

“Text as the Basis for Text-less Music: 11th Century Poetry Meets a 21st Century Composer,” a symposium sponsored by Elon University's Department of Music with contributions from the Department of English, takes place Sept. 13-15 to address the way in which instrumental music evokes, interprets and represents poetic texts, and the process by which composers craft “abstract” sounds from written sources.
Donors fund upgrades of Latham Park

Elon will begin upgrades to the Walter C. Latham Park baseball facility following the 2010 baseball season. The improvements are made possible by a group of generous donors led by trustee Dr. Bryan Latham and his wife, Janet, of Miami, who made a $250,000 commitment to fund the work.
