Southern Conference honors Wes & Cathy Elingburg

Elon University trustee Wes Elingburg and his wife, Cathy, have been recognized by the Southern Conference with the league’s 2010 Distinguished Service Award for their contributions to the institution. The Elingburgs received one of 12 awards – one for each member of the conference – and will be honored June 1 at the Southern Conference Honors Dinner in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Special ceremony honors one Elon graduate

It just didn’t seem right that Ashlee Crewe had to forfeit her college graduation to join teammates in Georgia this weekend for the NCAA softball tournament. So in front of family and friends, Crewe received her diploma Wednesday evening from Elon President Leo M. Lambert in a ceremony honoring the only senior on the Southern Conference championship team.

Molly McKnight Costigan, an Elon University Spanish major, has been named the recipient of a 2010 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship, which will fund one year in Spain teaching in an elementary school while conducting an independent project.

Professor receives Fulbright summer seminar award

Elon University history professor Brian Digre has received a 2010 Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad award, which will fund a six-week visit to the Gulf nations of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait for study and research.
