Welcome to Elon! Whether you are a first-year student or a transfer student, New Student Orientation (NSO) ensures that your transition to Elon is smooth and enjoyable. All new students (both first-years and transfers) are required to participate in New Student Orientation directly following move-in.

All new students will be assigned an arrival/move-in time. This is the time students should arrive at the Schar Center for check-in.

All new students, first-years and transfers, are assigned a unique time for them to come to campus for their Schar Center Orientation Check-In and to move into their residence hall (if applicable). This time can be found in the student’s Acorn Account. During this centralized check-in experience, you will receive your orientation materials, Phoenix Card, and residence hall key (if applicable).

In this keynote, Tim Mousseau leads a deep and vulnerable conversation on the delicate topic of sexual violence, drawing from his original research, personal experiences, and years of advocacy. Tim provides resources to communities that allow them to facilitate productive conversations around sexual assault, assists in the survivor recovery process, and shares how the power of personal and community action can be utilized in prevention. Students will leave feeling empowered to create a culture of compassion while realistically facing an issue prevalent on campuses across the country.

(If students need or prefer to take the assessment the first time in person, they may do so during orientation.) Bring personal laptop and student ID to complete assessment. Stop by the Gender and LGBTQIA Center to learn more about our initiatives. We support LGBTQIA students, provide confidential support for survivors of gender-based violence, co-advise the Gender and Sexuality Living Learning Community (LLC), and present on gender and LGBTQIA related topics. Students accepted into the Nursing program will meet with the Department Chair and learn more about Nursing at Elon. Students will meet their peers enrolled in the Inaugural Cohort of Traditional BSN students, enjoy light snacks, and connect with program staff and faculty.


3 p.m. – 4 p.m. | GLC Information Session (hosted by the Gender & LGBTQIA Center| Moseley Student Center, Room 209

Stop by the Gender and LGBTQIA Center to learn more about our initiatives. We support LGBTQIA students, provide confidential support for survivors of gender-based violence, co-advise the Gender and Sexuality Living Learning Community (LLC), and present on gender and LGBTQIA related topics. We will share our calendar of events and how to get involved; plus, you’ll meet with the GLC professional and student staff. All are welcome!

All new students will be assigned an arrival/move-in time. This is the time students should arrive at the Schar Center for check-in. 

8 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Orientation Check-in & Move-in | Schar Center

All new students, first-years and transfers, are assigned a unique time for them to come to campus for their Schar Center Orientation Check-In and to move into their residence hall (if applicable). This time can be found in the student’s Acorn Account. During this centralized check-in experience, students will receive their orientation materials, Phoenix Card, and residence hall key (if applicable).

College Coffee is one of Elon’s oldest and most appreciated traditions. Typically a weekly tradition, this event brings Elon faculty, staff, and students together to build community and develop friendships. Stop by to pick up something to eat and drink on your way to New Student Convocation.

Students meet in Koury Athletic Center in Alumni Gym at 8 a.m. Student processional begins at 8:30 a.m. Do not plan to meet your student prior to this event.

Student processional will begin at 8:30am, please be seated at that time. Join President Book, administrators, faculty, and the Student Government Association president as they reflect and offer advice for making the most of the next four years. Attire is business casual. 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. | Parent & Families meet with academic advisors and Elon 1010 peer educators (for families of students enrolled in Elon 1010) | Your student’s meeting room

Meet with your student’s academic advisor, who is also their Elon 1010 instructor. This person will work regularly with your student throughout the semester to construct their Elon experiences plan, register for winter and spring courses, and consider which of the five Elon Experiences they want to participate in.
