Every Fall and Spring semester, the Gender and LGBTQIA Center and other partners on campus have Take Back the Night. Take Back the Night is a supportive space for survivors of gender-based violence (including sexual violence, intimate-partner violence, and stalking). During the event survivors can speak out about their experiences in a space in which they will be affirmed, believed, and supported by those in attendance. Those who speak out do not have to sign up in advance or prepare a rehearsed speech (although they can if they would like to). After the speak out portion of the evening, everyone is invited to a resource reception at which there are drinks and snacks for everyone to enjoy, as well as information about campus and community resources for those who experience violence. This event is open to both allies and survivors.
