After the start of the academic year

Once your lease agreement starts for an apartment, or the official academic year has begun for students in a residence hall, you are in a binding legal agreement with the university for fall, winter, and spring semesters.

For apartment spaces

After the start of the academic year, you may cancel your housing by completing the lease turnover process. This involves finding another student to take over your current space for the remainder of the lease contract (May 31).

The lease turnover process can also be used to change rooms during the year. If you wish to move to another apartment space, you can swap spaces with another apartment student or find a replacement for your current space in order to move to a vacant space.

For more information on the lease turnover process please speak with staff in your neighborhood office.
