Early Arrivals
Early Arrival Group Request
University Departments that need to have members of their group arrive on campus earlier than the posted opening date for first-year move-in date must submit this Early Arrival Request Form with their Vice President’s signature/approval and an electronic student roster to Residence Life by the first Friday of July. If you are an advisor requesting a group to arrive early, you are required to attend the Early Arrival Information Session. Once an advisor receives approval from their Vice President or Supervisor, the advisor must complete the Early Arrivals Roster Spreadsheet. All groups approved to return early are asked to assist with Move-in Day. More details will be given to Group Advisors for Early Arrival students once their roles have been finalized.
PLEASE NOTE: Approved student groups can move in no sooner than July 29.
We are also unable to accommodate students who arrive earlier than their approved time.
Policy for students not approved to arrive early
Returning students not affiliated with a campus organization who request to return to University residence halls earlier than the posted opening date will not be approved.
Emergencies Only
If an emergency arises that requires you to adjust move-in dates and times, you will need to contact the Residence Life Office at 336.278.7300 as soon as possible prior to your arrival. Emergencies are family distress, such as severe sickness or a family death. Requests that are not emergencies are unloading the car before move-in day, arriving early, or a suitemate/roommate has already moved in, etc.
