After the start of the academic year
Once your lease agreement starts for an apartment, or the official academic year has begun for students in a residence hall, you are in a binding legal agreement with the university for fall, winter, and spring semesters.
Student may terminate this Agreement after the start of a semester only for the following reasons: graduation, withdrawal, or circumstances that are determined by the University, in the University’s sole discretion, to be beyond the student’s control (each, an “Authorized Reason”). Documentary evidence is required to demonstrate cause for termination. The student will be charged the prorated amount for the days of the semester that housing is held in reservation by that student. Student shall remain liable for housing and food (meal) plan charges until written notice is received and termination approval is given by Residence Life.
For apartment spaces
After the start of the academic year, you may cancel your housing by completing the lease turnover process. This involves finding another student to take over your current space for the remainder of the lease contract (May 31).
For more information on the lease turnover process please review the Lease Turnover website and speak with staff in your neighborhood office.
