Elon Volunteers! Student Leadership Positions

Elon Volunteers! (EV!) is a student run organization with many leadership opportunities available. Typically, a smaller number of positions open up during the fall semester that start in the spring.  During the spring semester, applications are open for many of our leadership positions for the following academic year. Additionally, EV! leadership positions are a great opportunity where you can potentially earn your leadership or service ELR, or potentially both. Leadership Roles within Elon Volunteers! are a great way to grow in your leadership skills and make a positive impact in our local community.  We ask students in these roles to facilitate ongoing experiences for peers and work in tandem with other student leaders and pro-staff advisors.

Elon Volunteers! Coordinator Positions

We are looking for student leaders for the below open positions that will officially start in spring 2025! Click on each position for more information and to learn more about responsibilities and qualifications for each role.

Alternative Break Participant

Alternative Breaks are immersive service experiences designed to introduce students to new communities while working to address pressing domestic and global social issues. Participating in an Alternative Break is a great way to get to know other students, make a positive impact, and have a meaningful fall or spring break!

America Reads Tutor (paid role for federal work-study eligible students)

America Reads America Counts is a Federal Work Study program designed to not only educate youth, but to also provide college students with an outlet to fulfill their work study requirements and delve deeper into the community around us. America Reads America Counts Elon student tutors are placed at local elementary schools or after school programs and work with teachers or community partner staff to help enhance reading and math skills of local children.

Elon Volunteers! Member

Elon Volunteers! member roles are a semester by semester opportunity within Elon Volunteers! and a great way to get more involved and to make a positive impact in our local community.  Member roles are opt-in and do not require an interview.  For anyone who indicates interest in being a member we ask you do the following:

  • Attend member on-boarding training
  • Volunteer at least 3 times throughout the semester
  • Attend at least 1 Institute for Civic Engagement

Benefits of being a member include:

  • Meet other students who are interested in getting involved
  • Get connected with an Elon Volunteers! leader peer mentor
  • Gain new skills that can set you up to hold a future leadership position
  • Get to know more about the local community and organizations that are making make an impact
  • Elon Volunteers! swag bag at the end of the semester once you complete membership requirements

Serve Alamance Volunteer Teams: K.I.N.G. Academy, Boys and Girls Club, CityGate Dream Center

Every semester, Elon Volunteers! has a few deeper partnerships through our Serve Alamance initiative with a few community partners.  Serve Alamance provides an opportunity for students to volunteer weekly over the course of a semester to make a sustained impact.  Here are this semester’s opportunities:

  • K.I.N.G. Academy Mentor: Thursdays from 6-7:30pm starting September 26th
  • Boys and Girls Club Volunteer: Fridays from 3-5:30pm starting September 27th (team members can also schedule to volunteer other days of the week)
  • CityGate Dream Center Volunteer: Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm starting September 16th (Girls in Motion program) or Wednesdays from 6-8pm starting September 18th (SPIN After-School program for middle and high school students)

Each Serve Alamance program will have an onboarding meeting prior to the start of the program to help prepare volunteers for the experience.  Students participating in Serve Alamance can potentially register with the Kernodle Center for Civic Life to earn their service ELR.

Civic Engagement Ambassador

Do you want to help Elon prepare for the 2024 Elections?  Join the Civic Engagement Ambassador team within Elon Votes!   Help us support our mission of increasing voter registration and turnout, civic participation, and general political knowledge around campus.

Elon Volunteers! Executive Director positions will open in March 2025!

Leaders in Collaborative Service Coordinators (paid role)

(LINCS) program connects community partner organizations in Alamance County to Elon University through impactful and ongoing volunteer opportunities.  Organizations that are selected as sites are given the opportunity to host a student coordinator.  The role is a unique hands-on paid position where coordinators work a maximum of 7 hours a week during the academic year, with hours split between host sites and campus. Coordinators support their site by recruiting Elon student volunteers to support projects identified in conjunction with their site supervisor.
