Community Partners

Each year, we partner with more than 80 local community agencies. These partners, including nonprofits, schools and government agencies, are the primary organizations in which Elon students serve. Resources and support are provided for our partners to sustain and strengthen our relationships with the community.

How To Partner

  • Community-Based Learning Courses: Faculty members teaching academic courses can partner to place students with your organization to work toward collective goals. A wide variety of courses is offered each semester, where students engage in direct service or tackle a specific project.
  • Service Experiential Learning Requirement: Students engage in 40 hours of direct service with a
    community organization over the course of a semester. They can complete project work or simply lend a helping hand for day-to-day operations.
  • Campus Alamance Internship Program: Campus Alamance is a paid, eight-week summer internship program
    offered at no expense to partners and is open to Alamance County nonprofits, schools, government entities, and businesses. Program partners conduct student application review and interviews, and provide project-based work for interns.
  • Elon Volunteers!: The Kernodle Center’s Elon Volunteers! student-led organization partners with local nonprofits for ongoing, sustained volunteer opportunities. EV! connects students on campus with the Alamance
    County community’s efforts around educational equity, human rights and advocacy, animal rights, civic engagement, health and wellness, and economic empowerment.
  • Event and Large Group Volunteering: Could you use extra hands at a big event you have planned? With at least six weeks notice, the Kernodle Center and Elon Volunteers! can help to organize student volunteer shifts. Additionally, if your organization has a project or event suitable for a large group (more than 3-5 volunteers), we can help connect campus groups to your opportunity.
  • Community Federal Work Study: Need more consistent help? You can apply to host community federal work study students in paid positions with your organization. You can be reimbursed for the majority of the students’ hourly wages. Create positions based on your needs!
