Faculty Career Champions Program
Empowering Faculty to Champion Students’ Career Success
The Faculty Career Champions Program celebrates faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to enhancing students’ professional development. Faculty Career Champions bridge the gap between academics and career readiness by fostering meaningful connections between classroom learning and professional opportunities.
Why It Matters
- Faculty play a pivotal role in preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
- Career-focused activities in the classroom increase student engagement and success.
- Collaboration with the SPDC ensures students have access to vital resources and career expertise.
What do Faculty Career Champions do?
Interested in becoming a Faculty Career Champion? Faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences can support student career readiness through activities such as:
- Inviting SPDC career advisors to facilitate classroom presentations on career topics
- Hosting employers or alumni in the classroom to talk about career options and/or provide insight to students interested in their career fields
- Supporting career events on campus (by attending or promoting events to students)
- Integrating career-related assignments into their courses (e.g., resumes, cover letters, personal statements, etc.)
- Adding NACE Career Readiness Competencies to syllabi
- Actively partnering with the SPDC to educate students about the career development process
