Belk Library resources help you research global public and non-public companies. Use LinkedIn to build personal contacts within the organization and research the background of your interviewer(s). Familiarize yourself with the employer’s digital presence, website, and social media. Learn about the work the organization is doing.
You should know:
- Goals, structure, culture, and values of the company
- Why you want to work for the company
- What value your skill set brings to the position
- Demographics of organization
- Community supports programs
- Customers and competitors
- Marketing channels
- Potential new markets
- Present and projected financial status
- Product lines and services
- Recent items in the news and periodicals
Other preparation tips:
- Practice using Big Interview
- Schedule a mock interview with a career advisor by calling the SPDC at 336-278-6538.
- Research the company and industry and prepare 5-10 questions for when, at the end of the interview, the employer asks you “What questions do you have for me?”
- Confirm directions, parking, meeting date, and time
- Drive to the location before the interview
- Ensure that you have a professional voicemail
