Our mission

The Office of Student Care and Outreach is at the heart of Elon University’s care, support, and connection efforts. Our office collaborates with campus and community partners to provide outreach and support networks for students experiencing significant and complex challenges affecting their dimensions of well-being. Support efforts include coordinating individualized, one-on-one developmental meetings with students focusing on resource education and connection, personal self-reflection, and empowerment in navigating obstacles.

Our scope of practice

The Office of Student Care and Outreach is a non-clinical office, meaning it is not a substitute for counseling, therapy, or medical practices. Our office gathers information about the student of concern, assesses severity and current needs, and creates an individualized constellation of support resources to help the student overcome challenges and achieve goals.

When to share concerns and what happens next

Students, faculty, staff, parents, and other community members are strongly encouraged to share with us when they have significant concerns about a student’s well-being.  Concerns can be social, physical, academic or otherwise.
