Open Graph Settings
The Open Graph Settings metabox contains options related to the information that is displayed on social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) when that page is shared. Each social network has unique requirements such as maximum number of characters and image sizes, so the fields provide recommendations that will accommodate most uses.
By default social networks will attempt to build this information for you based on content on the page (page title, body content, any images that it finds), but using these options will allow you to customize what is displayed when the page is shared.
To open the Open Graph Settings metabox, click on the white title bar and the box will expand to display all available options.
Available Options
- General > Title: The title that is displayed.
- General > Description: The description, or caption, that is displayed depending on the network.
- General > Image: The image that is displayed in the share.
- Twitter > Tweet: The pre-composed Tweet that is displayed when the visitor clicks the Twitter Social Sharing icon. (Accepts a max of 117 characters to accommodate for the 23 characters Twitter uses for the URL. The URL for the page will be added automatically to the end of the Tweet, so don’t add it to the Tweet you compose.)
- Email > Subject: The subject line for the email that is used when the visitor clicks the email Social Sharing icon.
- Email > Body: The body of the email that is used when the visitor clicks the email Social Sharing icon. (Line breaks/returns will be ignored, so it’s recommended you keep the message short.)
