Do something meaningful
Commit to a cause; become a volunteer; learn a new skill; or take up a challenge yourself.
Commitment provides a sense of purpose and meaning in one’s life, which some researchers claim is the single most important factor contributing to life satisfaction and well-being. Taking on and meeting challenges, even small ones, provides feelings of efficacy and a stronger sense of self. Religious belief can provide increased meaning in life. Volunteering and activities undertaken to benefit the community at large have special returns for feeling good about oneself and others and provide meaning and purpose.
